“This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
God is love, but being just, He will never overlook and ignore sin. His justice was fulfilled on the cross in the sacrifice of His Son.
We receive forgiveness not for our good works but in His mercy and grace. We are to show this same love to others and thus testify to our redemption.
The light of the Word of God is illuminated in us by the Holy Spirit for us to shine for others!
